Four couriers for this service made a total of eight trips to Australia carrying just over 5000 articles of mail, the rates of carriage being : Australia-UK $2.50 : UK-Australia 1.25 pounds. Two-way reply messages were $3.50 and 1.75 pounds respectively.
The stamps for this service were printed red and blue on white gummed paper and comprised two basic designs, one with the words Emergency service and maps of Australia and Great Britain and a plane, and the other inscribed Emergency Air mail Service with two hands and a letter. They were printed in two formats in sheets of four perforated and sheets of 2 values imperforate. Details were 50p sheet of 4 (5p, 10p, 15p, 20p) $1 sheet of 4 (10c, 20c 30c 40c) 1.25 pounds sheet of 2 (50p, 75p) $2.50 sheet of 2 ($1 and $ 1.50)

The postal workers in the UK came out on strike in January 1971 and so local businessmen and postmasters on the Isle of Wight banded together to provide a local service within the island itself only. The stamps were designed by R.J. Caldwell and printed by Robert Vale Ltd in Ryde. The first issue went on sale on imperforate on January 22nd and then rouletted sheets on January 23rd. As the postal strike went on longer than anyone expected a second printing became necessary. The new issue, in green now instead of the original blue, was issued on 16th February. There was only ever one price which was 5np or 1/-. At this time both Imperial and decimal currency was legal tender. The "stamps" were all printed by offset litho in rouletted sheets of 48. At it's height the service was handling over 1,500 items daily. The head of the syndicate running the service was led by Mr R.W. Cawdell. The name Vectis is an ancient ceremonial name for The Isle of Wight.

Date of issue 21st June 1996 In all there are more than 30 islands and islets in the Summer Isles group, of which the majority are depicted in these stamps. The furst edition of the 1855 Ordnance Survey of the area was used as a reference to create this unique philatelic collage (postage jigsaw puzzle) Also unique is the use of the Gaelic titles and and face values in recognition of Scotland’s Gaelic renaissance. In Gaelic the Pound Sterling is referred to as the ”Punnd Sassanach” (English Pound) hence the abbreviation ”PS” A penny in Gaelic is ‘’sgillinn”, abbreviated to ‘’sg” which was a Scots shilling worth about one twelfth of its English pre-decimal counterpart. The 1PS value is the first high denomination stamp to be issued by the Summer Isles.

Tanera Mor map (4 stamps)
Tanera Mor (Scottish Gaelic: Tannera Mor) is an inhabited island in Loch Broom in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. It is the largest of the Summer Islands and the only inhabited island in that group. Tanera Mor is notable for issuing its own postage stamps. The four stamps, issued in 2008 by the Summer Isles Post Office, are based on the design of Saki Satom. She used a map found in the Coigach Community Hall in Achiltibuie, which carries the Gaelic place names translated from the English in the mid-twentieth century. The designs on the four stamps are: 15sg Acairseid Driseach and the Lochs, 27sg Aird na Goine and the Post Office, 55sg Mol Mor and the Lazy Beds, 1PS Tigh an Quay and Garadheancal. When the four stamps are assembled they display an artist's view of the island of Tanera Mor.
